Kakihara finds pain intoxicating to both give and receive and seeks the ultimate pain from a pure sadist, which so far he has not found. Secretly, Kakihara has grown bored with everything life has to offer him and his obsession with feeling and giving pain is how he attempts to feel enjoyment, and alive again. He is glorified suicidal.

C A N O N . R E L A T I O N S H I P S

Boss Anjo: The leader of Anjo group, Kakihara was his lieutenant and he had a sadomasochistic relationship with Kakihara. He is brutally slaughtered by Ichi while with a prostitute, the murder is covered up, and money is stolen, making it appear that Anjo has run off with the girl and stolen money from the Yakuza. Kakihara's love and obsession with pain made him love the man and he loyally searches for him, unconvinced that the boss would just run away. He insists that Anjo is kidnapped and is just waiting- relying on Kakihara to find him. He later confirms that Anjo has been killed by tasting the bloodied stolen money and recognizes the taste.

After Anjo, nobody is violent or dangerous enough for Kakihara and he is constantly in search of "The One", desperately seeking the same feeling of despair and the degree of pain that Anjo would give him.

Karen: Boss Anjo's woman. Once Anjo disappeared, they worked together to try to find him. Eventually while Kakihara playfully tortured a man who would not let him enter Hirando Club after he was kicked out (He knocked him to the floor, placed his feet on his head and yanked his cheek to a ridiculous length) the man cried for "Karen-Chan's" help and instead she joined in on the other side, appeared to be getting off on hurting him, and told Kakihara she wanted to be his woman. Seeing her sadistic side turned him on and she became his woman. It was not to last, as he found her beatings unsatisfying, and he ridiculed her, telling her she isn't The One, and walked away.

Later Karen would try and help the "other side" to either punish or kill Kakihara, but she is maimed and killed by Ichi.

Takayama: A large, loyal man. He is Kakihara's muscle, shouts a lot, and is intimidating, but has a gentle heart. He has no stomach for Kakihara's violent antics and could have easily been a salary man. Every bone in his body is crushed and broken by Jijii. ~~Takayama is currently in Discedo.~~ Takayama has left Discedo.

Kaneko: Formerly Anjo's body guard. Used to be a cop, but lost his gun. Ironically, he is recruited as a gunman to Anjo group. He is meek most of the time and often bullied by Kakihara and other members of the gang, even the lowliest member. His throat is slashed by Ichi after he shoots him in the leg.

Jiro and Saburo: Twins that are just as brutal as Kakihara with no maturity or restraint, who he calls once he has total control of Anjo group. They are indebted to him because thanks to him, they are detectives. The two are almost like brutal children and unlike most twins, hate each other badly enough that they strive to kill one another.

Saburo differs from his brother in that he has the inhuman ability to track people's scents like a blood hound, which he does while wearing a costume pair of dog ears. The twins also have an unusual 6th sense with each other, and did with another sibling that passed away, the twins having sensed the death of their older brother.

Saburo is beaten and head caved by Ichi. Jiro senses his death and informs Kakihara and they quickly find his body. When Jiro jealously leans in to inspect his body, Saburo suddenly grabs and holds him in place and Ichi appears from the darkness and kills him as well.

D I S C E D O . R E L A T I O N S H I P S

Reno: Kakihara's best friend/lover. He nicknamed him Ka-Dinaru (Cardinal) because he is thin and because of his fiery red hair, and sometimes calls him Birdy, though they are roughly the same size as one another.

Kakihara tells Reno things he simply can't or won't share with anyone else, such as things revolving around his dissatisfaction with life and his need to have pain in it in order to enjoy it, and not contemplate suicide. His conversations can become dark with his torments, but he can open up to him. Because he can confide in him, it helps greatly to bite back those feelings. Reno knows Kakihara inside and out, better than anyone in Discedo. This is both unnerving and a soothing thought to him. He'll never try to change it.

He doesn't think he is truly interested in everything that he is, but can sense the sadistic spark in Reno. While they cannot enjoy a full blown sadomasochistic bout, Kakihara likes to cause general mischief with Reno whenever he can convince him. Any chance that Kakihara can get, he will invite Reno to drink, smoke, and enter the hospital with him. He views him as his closest friend, out of the very few that he has and trusts him, especially after he was the only one that came to his aid when he nearly killed himself by mutilation when all the chipped citizens lost their emotions.

Kakihara is very in love with Reno, though isn't quite sure how to handle it. He does think of what they have as a relationship, but vocalizing it isn't all that important. However he's unsure how to vocalize it when he has the urge to do so. He still masks his feelings through teasing once in a while, though it seems pointless now... He also tries to get under his skin whenever possible, and often uses Reno's supposed "moping" to do this. He cares for Reno above anyone else in Discedo, and secretly "fears" abandonment. Reno, whether or not he ever needs/thinks he needs it, has Kakihara's full protection.

~~Kaneda:~~ A feisty little street gangster Kakihara has grown quite fond of. He's got moxy- a lot of potential- and Kakihara nurtures that, and affectionately calls him "little brother". He often releases his more immature urges, such as random destruction, vandalism, and random fist fights with Kaneda and his friend Yamagata, or whoever else decides to tag along. He hopes eventually to really take Kaneda under his wing, especially when he finally reforms Anjo group, Anjo II. Kaneda disappeared from the city along with Seishirou and Ichiko. Kakihara has taken Kaneda's bike, Ohura, in memory of him.

Demyx: Not Kakihara's usual cup of tea, Demyx's supposedly weak nature has grown on him, but he senses something deeper. Kakihara makes it appear that he thinks of Demyx as a "bitch" to his dominance, but he actually doesn't look at Demyx in that light or discriminate against his type, and thinks his personality is fitting of him. The allure he finds in Demyx is foreign to him, since he's almost positive Demyx will not like being sadistic towards him, let alone do it as well as Anjo did (which is what he is looking for). However other than enjoying Demyx's company, his attraction strongly involves introducing Demyx to sadomasochism in an enjoyable way for the first time and the possibility of teaching him, even if it is to a much smaller degree than what Kakihara is used to. Baby steps..

Kakihara oddly enough, finds something about Demyx endearing, and is fascinated that this young man that is used to running from danger doesn't run from him, but rather is drawn to him, and hints that he may be interested in experimenting with sadomasochism as long as it's taken slow. It is this that keeps Kakihara pursuing him, but ultimately it causes him to be more drawn in by the other larger aspects of his personality. He likes to tease, pick on, and scare Demyx every chance he gets and also likes to test his limits. Secretly, he is much more fond of Demyx and his friendship than he lets on, and often covers it up with that teasing. He has been jokingly labeled Demyx's "Sadist boyfriend", and unofficially lives up to that title with his possessive and protective behaviour when somebody messes with Demyx. His feelings for Demyx have grown significantly, and he is most protective of him over anyone in Discedo. He's always ready to help or protect what's his.

~~Seishirou:~~ The closest to ever come to giving Kakihara the feeling that Anjo gave him. Unbeknownst to anyone in Discedo, Kakihara propositioned Seishirou to privately torture him as best as he could without killing him, despite Seishirou being a killer and without feelings, making him totally untrustworthy and entirely capable of murdering him. This thrilled him and indeed, with his medical knowledge Seishirou brought him close enough to death after threatening to do so by all but completely dissecting him. He paid him with two cigarettes. Afterward he spent a long time in hiding while he recovered, not wanting to give Seishirou's true nature away.

Currently, Kakihara is looking into doing work for Seishirou, and recently loaned him one of his metal skewers to use in the torture of Fai, in exchange for another short bout of torture, where he cut and stabbed Kakihara in an alleyway. They secretly discuss things of a dark nature, while Seishirou wears a pleasant mask for others. With him he unleashes his full potential and hopes to participate when Seishirou (finally) openly indulges himself. Disappeared from the city along with Ichiko and Kaneda.
